Serious Side Effects

Some side effects of Rapamune are potentially serious and should be reported to your healthcare provider immediately. These include but are not limited to:
  • Signs of an allergic reaction, such as:
    • An unexplained rash
    • Hives
    • Itching
    • Unexplained swelling, especially of the mouth, lips, or throat
    • Wheezing or difficulty breathing
    • Difficulty swallowing
  • Signs of infection, such as high fever, chills, aches and pains, or coughing
  • Sores or wounds that do not heal, drain fluid, or appear red or infected
  • Swollen glands in the neck, armpits, or groin
  • Any skin changes, such as discoloration, sores, or lumps
  • Swelling (edema) in your hands, feet, ankles, legs, or other areas of your body
  • Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
  • Confusion, problems thinking or walking, or weakness on one side of your body
  • Red, itchy, scaly skin
  • A decrease in the amount of urine produced
  • Fatigue, pale skin, dizziness, or shortness of breath
  • Unusual bruising or bleeding
  • Increased blood pressure (hypertension).

You may experience some or none of the side effects listed in this article. Unfortunately, there is no way for your healthcare provider to know beforehand if you will have problems with a medicine that you have never tried.
