Prograf Blood Problems

While Prograf® (tacrolimus) can be an effective medicine for preventing organ rejection, this drug may cause problems for some people. For instance, Prograf can cause blood problems, including low red blood cells (anemia) and low platelets.

If you are undergoing Prograf treatment, your healthcare provider will monitor your blood cell counts with simple blood tests. Notify your healthcare provider if you experience any symptoms of anemia or other blood cell problems, such as:

  • Fatigue
  • Weakness
  • Infections
  • Unusual bleeding or bruising.
