CellCept® (mycophenolate mofetil) is a prescription medicine approved to prevent organ rejection following a heart, liver, or kidney transplant. However, there are occasions when a healthcare provider may recommend this medicine for something other than this approved use. This is known as an "off-label" use. For example, one of the possible off-label uses for CellCept is treating lupus nephritis (kidney inflammation caused by systemic lupus erythematosus).
